So much pressure is put on people this month. Pressure to find a date, pressure to give grand romantic gestures. All of the hype of the holiday can be fun, but it can also be draining. I ask you this, when did you last take yourself on a date? When did you buy yourself something nice? When did you gaze lovingly into your reflection and tell yourself how amazing you are, how much you love yourself? If your answer was not yesterday, it’s time for you to fill yourself back up.
Taking yourself on a date:
-Take a long lunch from work and go to wander a store by yourself that you enjoy but never get the time to take your time in.
-Get a massage or a spa treatment of your choice.
-Go to a museum and take time to just be with yourself.
-Go for a long walk.
-Take yourself out to a nice lunch away from your desk and take time to sit, relax, and chew.
Filling yourself back up:
-write yourself a love letter. Include all the wonderful things on the inside, like your strength, your wit, and your ability to love and care for others.
-take a few minutes each morning to look at yourself and tell yourself how wonderful, beautiful, and talented you are. Remind yourself that you are doing alright, nothing is as bad as it seems, and you are capable of getting through all the hard stuff.
-As you drive to work think about all that you are and all that you have to be grateful for.
-Go to bed early. Just unplug, shut down, turn off and relax. Put the kids in bed early, let them read books until they fall asleep and you take time for yourself.
Let go of all your excuses about why you don’t have time to do this. Make time, life is short and you deserve some of your own undivided attention.
